Great weather today. Finished sanding and dusted the clapboard with my gas-powered leaf blower. Covered every nail head with a rust-inhibiting aerosol primer. I will scrape a few more spots tomorrow before brushing on the primer.

Sanding
Traveled out-of-state yesterday on short notice so I didn't get to work on the house. Today I sanded about half of the clapboard on the backside with a palm sander and 60 grit sandpaper. I do not recommend the sander vac pro (made by the paint shaver people) to finish off the clapboard. It is very easy to gouge the wood with that tool and any ordinary palm sander will work better. Here is the "before photo" of the clapboard:

Here is the same area after getting hit with the palm sander/60 grit:

The slight circular indentations are from the paint shaver. I'm hoping the paint can cover that up.
Tomorrow I'll finish up sanding, spot prime the nailheads and fill in any holes with wood putty. Will probably lay some primer down this weekend.

Time to get after it
I need to get this house finished, so here's my progress documented for all to see. Today I cleaned out the gutters and scraped paint from the back of the house. I concentrated on the hard-t0-reach areas using a heat gun and scraper. My plan is to finish up the hard-to-reach stuff tomorrow and begin sanding. The paint shaver pro did a good job on the clapboard, but it leaves the wood too rough to paint.
